PBC0083: political alienation

PBC 83 conveys many varied expressions of nationalists' angry condemnation of the Bolsheviks and alienation from Russia. The new Bolshevik regime is a band of looters (W67). Elsewhere, writers speak in apocalyptic terms of Russia as burning rivers (W472), rivers running dry (W475), and Russia as a whore (W403). Russia is a place where “unclean spirits” are running rampant. Another invokes ancient Russian epic, “The Lay of Igor’s Campaign,” expressing hope for the Volunteer Army, “young Rus’, across the sea” (W503).
